Engraver, New Media Artist, and Teacher of Graphic-Advertising Disciplines and Audiovisual Disciplines.

His artistic research moves along the boundary between form and thought, technique and concept, body and device.

Since 2015, with the series Anatomie Forzate, he has been developing a reflection on the human being within the cultural context: an individual who can no longer perceive the world as it really is, but filters it through distorting lenses imposed by culture. He learns by adjacency — like a bird without wings — step by step, deprived of the third dimension: the height of flight and the speed of intuition. In these works, engraving techniques become a tool of excavation and conceptual stratification.

With the series Anatomie Sensibili, he explores the relationship between perception, fragility, and interiority, focusing on themes such as waiting and unease, often with works that engage the viewer through the interplay of space, time, and tactility.

Since 2023, he has inaugurated the cycle Opere Uniche di possibile tiratura illimitata, a reflection on contemporary sensibility and the reproducibility of the artwork, where each piece is unique yet theoretically replicable, triggering a meditation on gesture, presence, and permanence.

Among his performative and relational projects, Random Recipient represents a poetic inquiry into chance, distance, and generosity. Born as an experiment in anonymously sending artist’s letters, it has unfolded in different stages in Italy and abroad, involving unknown recipients in an intimate and universal act: receiving an unsolicited gift, not knowing from whom or why, but allowing the unsuspecting participant to question themselves with the same inquiries posed by the artist.

Gallo’s technical approach is never confined to a single style: for each project he chooses the medium most coherent with the concept to be expressed. Among his favored means are engraving — with which he has a strong bond — and interactive installations employing microprocessors, sensors, and digital media.

He has long been dedicated to research on non-toxic engraving techniques and founded the Laboratorio Sostenibile di Angelo Gallo, currently listed in the Artist’s Map of the best printmaking studios in Italy.

Since June 2025, he has been registered with the PSMSAD Fund, the assistance and welfare fund for painters, sculptors, musicians, writers, and playwrights.
