Jacopo Mandich

Lives and works in Turin

Born in Rome but raised in Turin, Jacopo Mandich graduated in sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in 2005. In 2006, he won the Edgardo Mannucci prize. In 2015, he attended two-year specialisation courses at the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino and Turin. In 2015, he was the first Italian artist to be invited to the Contemporary Biennial in Yekaterinburg, Russia. In 2018, he attended a Master's degree course in sculpture at the Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle, Halle, Germany.
Poised between sensitive knowledge or opinion and intelligible knowledge or science, as well as between intellect or belief, Jacopo Mandich's artistic research is based on the alchemical and energetic interaction that runs through matter, where wood, iron, stone, among other materials, come into contact with each other, creating a powerful short circuit that is capable of generating powerful, vibrant and astonishing sculptural structures with the aim of investigating all those hidden and intangible energies that underlie the movements of human flow.
