Antonella Plenzio
Naples, 1953lives and works in Milan
Antonella Plenzio studied at the Art High School in Venice and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, where she attended the stage design course. At the stagecraft workshops of Teatro alla Scala in Milan, she completed a two-year professional training program as a stage designer and builder. She designed the stage set for the opera Le convenienze e le inconvenienze teatrali by Donizetti at the Teatro Angelicum in Milan (1979) and, the following year, for the melodrama La testa di bronzo by Soliva at the Piccola Scala in Milan, on the Stendhalian Meetings evening. As an assistant, she collaborated on set and costume design for the Baroque music performance Recitar cantando at the 17th-century Palazzo Albergati in Bologna.For a decade, she worked as an assistant stage designer and builder in the sculpture department and later in the painting studio and costume development department at Teatro alla Scala. She has taught art subjects in various schools in Milan and participated in a project promoted by the Lombardy Region involving painting and theatre workshops with female inmates at San Vittore Prison in Milan.
