Dawn represents a moment of renewal, of genesis but, at the same time, also of uncertainty and restlessness. Italo Calvino defines it as "the hour in which one is least sure of the existence of the world": under the first rays of the sun, in the semi-darkness, things slowly acquire color and shape but their boundaries still appear faded. The only way not to get lost and find ourselves seems to be to rely on what we know and on rationality. The latter is linked to the concept of hope, or the reasonable curiosity to know something far from us. Immanuel Kant at the end of the "Critique of Pure Reason" asks himself "what can I hope for?". At the origin of this question is man's finiteness and awareness of his state: hope is the image of a reality in which it is possible to break down the limits that prevent the concrete and complete realization of freedom.
A dreamlike atmosphere between illusion and truth, dawn has always fascinated artists of all ages for its character of uncertainty and ambiguity, but also of new opportunities. In fact, during this state of half-sleep time flows differently and everything still seems possible.
