SENTIMI
From 03/12/2025 To 24/01/2026
Raffaella De Chirico Arte Contemporanea concludes 2025 with Sentimi, a solo exhibition dedicated to Turin-based artist Luigi Stoisa, opening on Tuesday, 2 December at the Milan venue in Via Monte di Pietà 1A. Active since the 1980s, Luigi Stoisa has developed a body of work centered on the transformation of matter—its capacity to change shape, surface, and meaning over time. At the heart of his poetics lies tar, a living and unstable material that becomes a symbol of continuous metamorphosis.
The exhibition will feature historical works created with tar at the beginning of his artistic career: paintings with vibrant surfaces, marked by evocative and intensely poetic titles, offering the public an opportunity to revisit the origins of his research through works of strong material presence. The core of the exhibition is dedicated to tar works from the late 1980s, including pieces such as Ti sento lontana and Ti amavo tanto, in which the material itself becomes an emotional language. In these works, tar is not merely matter, but presence: a substance that breathes, generating unstable and dramatic balances through its interaction with oil and charcoal. The forms are often reduced to the essential, while subtle touches of color break the dominance of black, introducing a narrative tension. These works tell the story of the relationship between two lovers not through figuration, but through matter itself.
